At night my dreams were modified to be like an entertaining movie or virtual reality simulation. Temporal reception technology was used to determine when I would wake up, so the movie was stretched and fitted to occur during the timespan of the REM sleep cycle before I woke up.

I remembered that today was my second day off. I sometimes used a virtual reality simulation on my days off. After I woke up, I got out of bed and exited the cubic grid of my sleep zone. I looked back into the cubic grid of my sleep zone. The bed was surrounded by an imaginary boundary in the shape of a cube. I looked back into the cubic grid of my sleep zone to see the unmade messy bed. I picked up my remote and hit the reset button. Everything within the cubic sleep zone automatically reset itself. The bed was perfectly made and everything was put back into order the way it was before I went to sleep.

I then went around the house and found all the personal items that I wanted to keep. I put all of these items in the “do not disturb safe”. I then exited the cubic house zone and hit the “select home model” button on my remote. I scrolled through the display and found the blueprints for a house model that I wanted for today. I selected the house model and hit the “apply” button. Everything in the cubic house zone automatically transformed itself into the house model I had chosen for today. I went back into the house and opened my “do not disturb safe” to retrieve my personal items. I then put my personal items in the locations I wanted them for today. On my remote I found and pushed the button labeled “select outside weather” on my remote. On the display I selected “Winter” for the season, “Partly Cloudy” for the weather, “Northern Hemisphere 35 Degrees North Latitude 6:00 Antemeridian” for the sun’s location, “79.0 degrees Fahrenheit/26.1 degrees Celsius” for the outside temperature, “10%” for the outside humidity”, and “moderate breeze” for the wind conditions. I looked out the window to see the sky suddenly turned sunny with the sun moving to its highest position directly overhead. On my remote I found and pushed the button labeled “outside terrain” and selected “Arizona Grand Canyon environment #33”. I looked out the window to see a canyon with beautiful warm colors appear. I went outside and hit the button “watch sunrise” on my remote. The sun started to rise above the horizon. I saw the most beautiful colors of orange yellows and reds. I was surprised to even see a hint of the shad e of purple. The colors reflected off the clouds in a beautiful way that lit the whole sky with color. I remember thinking this is an iconic sunrise, but it still falls short of the real thing. The pixels and graphics in this virtual reality simulation are inferior to real life. I can only experience a shadow of the real thing here in this virtual reality simulation.

I then went into the newly remodeled kitchen and sat at the kitchen table. On my remote I found and pushed the button labeled “food selections”. On the display I selected “breakfast buffet #66”. The kitchen was suddenly filled with a buffet setting with omelets, huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos, hash browns, oatmeal, orange juice, horchata, whole milk, and water with cucumber. I found a plate, cup, napkins, and utensils, which I used to serve myself and eat breakfast. I then stepped outside the cubic grid of my eating zone and hit the reset button on my remote. The kitchen automatically reset itself to be immaculately clean as if I had not yet eaten breakfast there.

I then went to the bathroom to look at myself in the mirror holding my remote. I hit the “clean mouth” button and my mouth was immaculately clean like right after flossing and brushing my teeth. I hit the “shave button” and my face was suddenly clean shaven. I hit the “clean body” button and I was suddenly wrapped in a shower towel as if I had already showered. I hit the “choose attire” button on my remote. On my display, I selected “water attire #99”. In the mirror I saw my clothes change to be a board short bathing suit with a long sleeve water shirt made of a light stretchy polyester material and flip flop sandals. When everything was the way I wanted it I hit the “save for later refresh” button.

I then went upstairs to the roof of the house. The top of the house was flat like the top of a skyscraper building. There was a helicopter pad marked out in paint. I hit the “choose aerial vehicle” button on my remote. I scrolled through the display and selected “Richard Browning Jetpack”. I was suddenly clothed in black leather pants with a black leather jacket. Both my arms had two thrusters attached to them like Iron Man. I walked to the middle of the helicopter pad and then started up the jetpack thrusters. I was surprised that I could steer the jetpack just by moving my arms. It was very intuitive and only took a little coordination and balance for me to be able to go wherever I wanted. I flew over the Grand Canyon in my jetpack. I was able to see the Colorado River down below. I eventually found a nice flat place to land my jetpack. I took the jetpack off, but I was still clothed in a black leather jacket and black pants. I hit the “refresh” button on my remote and I was once again clothed in my swimming attire. On my remote I hit the button “Choose Activity”. I scrolled through the display and choose “Water Slide Park”. Suddenly a water park with waterslides appeared on the side of the Grand Canyon. The water slides went down the side of the Grand Canyon into a pool that was supplied water by the Colorado River. On my remote I hit the button “cash 50 x $20”. In my pocket appeared a wallet filled with many $20 bills. I went and bought a daily admission to the water park. The water park was packed with people with a very long line. On my remote I hit the button “remove crowd”. Everyone disappeared except for a few essential people. I rode all of the water slides at least 3 times. I bought a burger chili fries and a soda at the food station in the water park. The water park was attached to a hotel called “Great Wolf”. I went into the lobby of the “Great Wolf” hotel and hit the “Choose Activity” button on my remote. I scrolled through the display and choose “Classic Arcade #44”. Suddenly an opening to an arcade appeared attached to the lobby. I went into the arcade and used a $20 bill to get some quarters. I played many of the arcade games including Ms. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Mortal Combat II, Street Fighter II, The Simpsons Arcade Game, Sonic, Mario, Ri-Star, Golden Axe, Space Invaders, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Time, Galaga, Star Wars Trilogy Arcade, Frogger, Asteroids, Dance Dance Revolution, Fix-it Felix Jr., and Sugar Rush. However while I was play the game Sugar Rush, water from my bathing suit must have leaked onto the power cord. Suddenly I heard popping noise, saw a spark and flash, and then suddenly everything started to glitch. It was not just the Arcade game that started to glitch, but the entire “Great Wolf” hotel simulation. Everything seemed to go in a boomerang loop where you only had about 3 seconds to do anything before it reset the loop. During the 3 seconds I was luckily able to find my remote and hit the “Emergency Reset”. I found myself back at my house in my bathroom in front of my mirror in my swimming attire now dry. I thought to myself, that was a close one. If I had been trapped in an environment with glitches without the ability to reach my remote, I could have be trapped and tortured for who knows how long before the fail-safe kicked in.

I hit the “choose attire” button on my remote. On my display, I selected “semi-casual #19”. In the mirror I saw my clothes change to be a royal blue shirt sleeve shirt with a color made out a light polyester material, a black tie, a silver wrist watch, black pants, black socks, and black shoes. When everything was the way I wanted it I hit the “save for later refresh” button.

I went into the living room and then pushed the button “invite party” on my remote. On the display, I selected “Swing dance party #13”. Immediately I heard the doorbell ring. I went to the front door an opened it. In front of the door was a DJ holding electronic equipment with a crew of setup people behind him. I let them into the house. The DJ set up a speaker sound system hooked up to a computer with swing dance music on it. The setup crew brought in sections of a wooden dance floor, which they assembled together to turn the whole living room into a wooden dance floor. The setup crew then went outside and brought in folding tables, which they assembled and covered with a catered Italian food buffet. The DJ started playing different salsa dance song. Once everything was set up the doorbell rang ago. There were people dressed in party attire with swing dancing shoes that came in and started dancing in the living room. The doorbell rang a couple more times and more people started trickling into the living room until it was full of people dancing the “Lindy Hop” and the “Charleston”.

I got a plate and started serving myself some of the food, which included pepperoni pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, garlic bread, and lasagna. To drink there was ice water, Coca Cola, Italian Soda, Shirley Temples with Cherry, and Champagne. After a few hours there was a knock on the door. I saw a limo in the street and a man and woman at the door. The man said to let everyone know there is a Blues dancing after party at his place. He walked into the house and told the DJ to turn off the music. He then shouted telling everyone there was a Blues dancing after part at his place. The DJ then started playing the song “Closing Time”, which had the lyrics “you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here”. Everyone started gathering their belongings and left within 10 minutes. I was surprised the house wasn’t that messy. There was just a pile of garbage bags by the kitchen where everyone put all their trash.

I felt like it had been a busy day, so I went to get ready for it to end. I went into the bathroom and pushed the “clean teeth” button. I pushed the “clean body button” and I was suddenly wrapped in a bath towel. I hit the “choose attire” button on my remote. On my display, I selected “sleeping attire #7”. In the mirror I saw my clothes change to be what seemed like boxer underwear and a wife-beater undershirt. I went and got into bed and rested there with my eyes closed doing deep breaths until I was completely relaxed. Suddenly I heard an electron voice, “Virtual reality simulation complete. It is now time to wake up. REM sleep cycle over in 3, 2, 1…”
