As a part of the preparation for Passover, all "chometz", that is, all bread and cookies and cakes, are disposed of in a special ceremony. I visited the neighborhood on the morning of Passover to give a tour, have some last pastries, and have a glimpse of the ceremony, a whiff of the smoke, and all the last-minute energy.
