Detroit officer accused of stealing from recovery vehicle and misconduct

A Detroit police officer has been charged with larceny from a motor vehicle and misconduct in the office. 40-year old Michael Merritt was arraigned Friday. Detroit police say Merritt was being surveillance by their integrity unit, when they observed him steal from a recovery vehicle at the station.
