"Maggie (Julia Roberts) is a runaway bride who has left three grooms at the altar in a small town. Ike (Richard Gere) is a newspaper columnist who writes that Maggie is a man-eater. When Maggie protests to the newspaper, Ike is fired and decides to investigate Maggie's story. As Ike gets to know Maggie, he begins to understand why she runs away and falls for her.
