Trial Lawyers React In REAL Time: IS TRUMP DISQUALIFIED?- Trump v. Colorado (Day 3: Afternoon))

AFTERNOON of Day 3 of 5 day trial.

6 Coloradoans brought a petition seeking to have the Court direct Colorado's Secretary Of State remove Trump from the ballot for the 2024 election. They allege that the U.S. Constitution Am. 14, Section 3 bars any person who "engaged in insurrection" from holding office as President of the United States. They further claim, that Trump's role in the siege of the Capitol on January 6, qualifies as "engaging in insurrection" and disqualifies him from running for office.

This morning, Petitioners witnesses included a Professor qualified by the Court as an expert in the 14th Amendment who tried to establish that :) i) Section 3 applies to Presidents; ii) Jan 6 would qualify as an insurrection under the statute; and iii) that "engaging" in insurrection extends to incitement. They also produced a clerk of the Secretary Of State's office who attested that their office bars ineligible persons from running for office.

This afternoon, we anticipate hearing from additional experts for Petitioners and perhaps the opening of Trump's Defense.
