This is not the cheapest torch out there, but like the other Sofirn flashlights I have tried, it has a premium feel to it, both in the build quality and presentation. It is waterproof, rechargeable and is one of the brightest and most versatile compact sized torches I have yet tried.

In the box, you get the torch itself which weighs in at 83g and is sized just 5.9 x 6.9 x 12.9 cm, along with a USB-C charging cable, battery, lanyard and user guide. No problems with the build quality, which is first rate and looks like it can withstand the heaviest treatment due to the armoured glass lens and aluminium alloy body casing.

As regards appearance, it has an attractive matt black finish with a small recessed lens on one end and a screw threaded cap on the other giving access to the battery compartment. The end cap houses the single padded button which selects and controls all the features of the torch. On one side is a small grommet protect bay for the USB-C charging port and on the other is the metal pocket clip

The flashlight is powered by a single removable type 2017 5000 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Charging takes about three hours and rather dim and hard to see charging LED changes from red to solid green when charged. When the torch is switched on the LED will indicate the battery level, the green light means 50%-100% power, the red light means 25%-50% power, and the flashing red light means 0%-25% power.

In general use, you should get several hours of runtime. The battery life depends on the level the torch is set to which can be varied from 1000 hours in 1 lumens in moonlight mode to about 3 hours at 2800 lumens in turbo mode.

Everything is controlled using the single button and given the number of modes and options on offer, this can get a bit complicated. There are three basic operating modes (called programs in the user guide) each of which has three light options within it. Click once to turn the torch on, after 5 seconds the light will flash once, now double click to select the next mode, quickly click again to access the third mode. There are six light levels in total and I would find it easier just to be able to scroll through them all by default rather than having to select combinations of them within each mode. The six levels are: Moonlight (1 Lm), Low (100Lm), Medium (350Lm), High (1200Lm), Turbo (2800Lm), Strobe (2800Lm). Just leave set to the default Mode 1 within which you can scroll through Moonlight, Low, Medium, High and Turbo. In any mode double click rapidly to change the brightness level. The button is touch sensitive and a gentle press will turn the torch on just while the button is pressed, release it to instantly turn it off, press harder until it clicks and the light stays on until clicked again.

What problems have I found with it? It can be a bit complicated to use but you soon get the hang of it. Also, it is a pity that the lens cannot be zoomed or focused and that no carry case, spare battery or external charger was included, but then you cannot have everything.

This is a high quality compact torch, not inexpensive at full price but at the time of writing Amazon is offering it at a whopping 40% discount, which makes it even more of an attractive buy.
