To ensure a strong connection between the wire and the graphite, wrap one of the wires—either one—around one of the grooves on the graphite (from Step 3). Then, crimp and twist the pencil around the wire. Similarly, handle the other wire. The wires should be attached to the pencil's side using tape or heat shrink tubing.
