The Genisis of American Liberty- The Bill of Rights

Before the passage of the Lee Resolution, on July 2, 1776, the basis for the “Declaration of Independence”, the people of the American colonies considered themselves British subjects. They were aware of the progression of liberty throughout English history. This discussion will trade the history back to kings of the 8th century and progress through the five major documents from the 12th through the 17th century. It is a summary, of among other references “Not a Living Breathing Document: Reclaiming Our Constitution” by Krisanne Hall.

Covered will be documents addressing the following liberties contained in the Declaration and the Constituion:

–True meaning of the separation of church and state
