Japan: Babies Join Workforce at Nursing Homes to Combat Loneliness
In an innovative response to Japan's ageing population, some nursing homes in the country are now employing toddlers as companions for the elderly.
These 'baby employees' have an age limit of 0 to 3 years, and their primary responsibility is to provide companionship, lift spirits, and engage in leisurely strolls with seniors.
This heartwarming initiative aims to combat loneliness and promote social interaction among the elderly, as one-third of Japan's population is aged 65 and above.
Parents of these baby employees often find their little ones forging special connections with the seniors, resembling real grandparent-grandchild bonds.
