I get this question all the time in my practice. "What's the point of shopping organic?" Usually followed by some version of "it's so expensive!"

A research study found that herbicides, specifically glyphosate and 2-4-D, are commonly detected in food and have negative impacts on the neurobehavioral performance of children. Glyphosate was detected in 98% of participants, while 2-4-D was detected in 66%. Higher levels of 2-4-D in urine were associated with lower performance in attention, inhibitory control, memory, learning, and language. Glyphosate concentration in urine was associated with lower scores in social perception. The study suggests that consuming organic food can help reduce exposure to these harmful chemicals and protect children's mental health.

The cost of organic food is often a concern, but alternatives like joining a local food co-op or growing one's own food can make it more affordable. In this day and age, you can't afford NOT to make these choices to protect your health, and that of your loved ones.
