WEX Wakeup: Pence drops out of presidential race; Youngkin calls for border security

The former Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile claimed the Republican Party is becoming Donald Trump's "MAGA party." Brazile appeared on This Week on Sunday to react to Mike Pence's withdrawal from the 2024 election from the day before. She claimed this was a "huge" week for the "movement" that takes its name from Trump's campaign slogan: Make America Great Again.

President Joe Biden's national security adviser Jake Sullivan reiterated Israel's right to self-defense on Sunday but said the country has to do everything it can to separate civilians from Hamas terrorists. “Israel has a right — indeed a duty — to defend itself against terrorists. Israel also has a responsibility to distinguish between terrorists and ordinary civilians,” he told ABC's Martha Raddatz.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) has called for increased border security along the United States's Southern border, noting that illegal immigration has caused a crisis across the nation. The issues of illegal immigration, as well as border security, have been a major talking point of Republican politicians, with Youngkin talking about the issue ahead of Virginia's 2023 state elections next month. Youngkin noted that the state of Virginia has a population of 8.7 million people and that almost the same amount of illegal immigrants have made their way into the U.S., which Youngkin called "unbelievable."
