Just a "lack of belief"? The Irrational, Logic-Free, Emotional Atheist: Video Essay

Too many atheists need to stop relying on feelings as their basis for atheism. The claim that atheism is a "lack of belief" is false. A common atheist lie. Atheism is a counter-proposition, often defended by this lie.

Propositional revelation sees Scripture as conveying propositional truth - things that can be stated, affirmed, believed or denied through propositional language. Scripture is more than poetry or symbolism; it makes propositional truth claims. The claim that atheism makes no truth claims is illogical (being a truth claim). Many, many, atheists claim atheism is merely a lack of belief. By this laughable logic, atheism can’t be true if it isn't a truth claim. All beliefs make truth claims. Secondly, if atheism is "just a lack of belief" then it is an "empty void" without any propositional content or logic. It could not be shown to be true or false. A feeling, basically. Atheism might then just be based on feelings. Feelings aren't true. They aren't a logic claim. They are not a sound basis for truth.

In fact, atheism implies certain truth claims about evidence, reason and epistemology, e.g. that there is insufficient evidence to warrant belief in God. These are propositional claims. Therefore, atheism does make truth claims, contrary to its assertion otherwise. Its claims can be logically affirmed or denied.

By the logical implication of its own claims, its assertion of making no truth claims is shown to be false.
