Episode 65
On Thursday June 29, 2023, I was tagged in a Facebook Live post about a truck loaded and ready to ship to slaughter in Mexico from Bowie Texas Livestock. The truck was over full and two horses were pulled off the load because they could not fit on the truck. One was a Belgian Draft horse gelding and the other was a Palomino. We don't have much information on the Belgian Draft horse except he is in his teens and has a swollen back left leg. We did pay the bail to save this horse however we are doing an emergency fundraiser for medical for this horse. Our goal as a foundation is to have funds available to pay the bail and rescue horses in emergency situations while running a fundraiser after to cover the cost of the next horses we might need to rescue. We were not planning on rescuing another horse but Cory and I believe that everything happens for a reason and there was a reason this horse didn't fit on the truck! Join us in following this new horses journey and retirement on our farm.

We are going to pick him up on Friday, June 30th and I don't know how long this video will take to upload so we will get an update out as soon as we can along with more information about him.

We hope you enjoy this video! Make sure you subscribe to our channel so you don't miss anything happening around here! Because it's never a dull moment!

The one item WE always need is FEED! If you would like to send a gift/donation of feed (Alfa Pro, hay, etc) to the horses you can send that through our local feed store, HF & C Amarillo. HF&C Amarillo has offered to help us with anyone wanting to send a gift/donation of Alfa-Pro to the horses. When you call, tell them you are sending a gift to Fletcher Farms Amarillo and they will add the gifts to our account. Alfa-Pro is $17.45 per bag. They do offer a discount if you purchase per pallet (40 - 50 pound bags) $16.95 per bag by the pallet. WE go through about 3-1/2 bags per day to feed all 13 horses (175 pounds per day). We also purchase square bales of coastal hay from HF&C. We use 3 bales per day to feed all the horses. Square bales of hay are $16.75 each.

Thank you to everyone that has sent us gifts of Alfa Pro! The horses love Alfa Pro and we truly appreciate the bags/pallets you have sent to us!
