Must-Play Halloween Video Games | Ghosts 'N Goblins | Ghouls 'N Ghosts

I will admit that Halloween is not one of my favorite times of the year. As such, I'm kind of particular in the Halloween-themed games that I play each October. As such, I wanted to share some of my favorite games to play around Halloween with you. I don't dig a ton of blood, guts, and gore, but one series I cannot deny is both awesome and awesomely difficult is Capcom's Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Ghosts 'N Goblins. Let's take a closer look at why I believe Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Ghosts 'N Goblins are must-play Halloween video games.

In Ghosts 'n Goblins, the player assumes the role of Arthur, a knight who must venture into the Demon Realm village in order to rescue his princess sweetheart. Arthur uses a variety of projectile weapons such as lances, axes, and daggers to eliminate anything that stands in his way.

In Ghouls 'N Ghosts which is set three years after Ghosts 'n Goblins, Lucifer, the ruler of the Demon Realm, takes away the souls of everyone in the kingdom, including Princess Prin Prin. It's up to Arthur to save his beloved princess again, and return the souls back to the people of the kingdom.

In most of the main series, once completing the game the player is forced to re-play the game's stages at a higher difficulty level in order to receive the game's "true" ending. The series has gained a reputation among gamers for its high level of difficulty.

I have never beaten any of the Ghouls 'N Ghosts or Ghosts 'N Goblins games, and I probably never will. What about you, have you ever beaten any of the games in the series? Let me know in the comments!
