Fine Dinning in a 120,000 Years Old Cave / Most Unique Restaurant EVER

Located over 10 meters underground this restaurant is as unique as it gets! Welcome to Ali Barbour’s Cave Restaurant in Diani Beach, Kenya. Enjoy a meal in an ancient coral cave with a wide overhead opening, excellent for stargazing.

This coral cave is believed to be between 120,000 and 180,000 years old. Fun fact, there is a retractable roof that can cover the opening in case of inclement weather.

The cave was founded by George and Jackie Barbour in the 1980's and the name was inspired by “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves”. The menu is very international but because of they are located on the Kenyan coast, seafood is the specialty. Everything we ordered was good even though nothing was truly outstanding. That being said, because of the location and ambiance, we would still highly recommend it.
