Never tried this approach before; buying the Flathead outright and unlocking the Maelstrom vendor. Plus it opens the door to collecting Dum-Dums revolver at the Totentanz later on in the story.

A fair ways off before we reach that point but honestly it's a nice change to the massive firefight that erupts if you choose any other option in dealing with Maelstrom and Militech.
