The Mars Perseverance Rover was launched on July 30, 2020, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. The rover's mission was to explore the Martian surface, seek signs of ancient life, collect samples of rock and regolith (broken rock and soil), and pave the way for future human missions to Mars.

Equipped with advanced scientific instruments, cameras, and sensors, the Perseverance Rover aimed to study the planet's geology, climate, and atmosphere, providing valuable data to scientists back on Earth. One of the key objectives of the mission was to assess the planet's past habitability and the potential for ancient microbial life.

The Perseverance Rover also carried the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter, a technology demonstration aimed at proving that powered, controlled flight is possible in the thin atmosphere of Mars. Ingenuity successfully completed multiple flights, demonstrating the feasibility of aerial exploration on the Red Planet.
