Surah At-Tahreem is the 66th chapter (surah) of the Quran, consisting of 12 verses (ayat). The title "At-Tahreem" translates to "The Prohibition" or "The Forbidding" in English. This surah addresses various aspects of family life, ethics, and divine guidance. #tahrim

The surah begins with a scenario involving the wives of the Prophet Muhammad, particularly Aisha and Hafsa, where they are reported to have made a request that had displeased the Prophet. The surah reminds believers of the importance of maintaining honesty, trustworthiness, and accountability in their personal relationships. #surahtahrim

Surah At-Tahreem also highlights the stories of past prophets, like Noah and Lot, who faced challenging situations and how their actions serve as lessons for believers. It emphasizes the importance of following divine guidance and maintaining righteousness in both individual and communal life.

The surah is a reminder of the responsibilities of those who receive divine revelations and the need for adherence to the teachings of Islam. It underscores the importance of humility, repentance, and seeking forgiveness from Allah.

Overall, Surah At-Tahreem provides valuable moral and ethical guidance while narrating stories from the past as examples for believers to learn from and apply in their lives.

HADITH : Surah At-Tahreem is associated with a specific Hadith from Sahih al-Bukhari, one of the most respected collections of Hadith in Sunni Islam. The Hadith is related to the incident mentioned in the beginning of Surah At-Tahreem involving the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is known as the Hadith of the "Honey Incident" and is often cited in reference to this surah. Here is the Hadith with reference:

Sahih al-Bukhari, Book 65, Hadith 314:
Narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to stay (for a period) in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh (one of his wives) and he used to drink honey in her house. Hafsa and I decided that when the Prophet entered upon either of us, she would say, "I smell in you the bad smell of Maghafir (a bad-smelling resin used in making a cheap perfume), and when he entered upon one of us, the other would say, "I smell in you the odor of a Maghafir," whereupon he would say, "I have taken some honey in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh, but I will never drink of it anymore." So there was revealed:

Surah At-Tahreem (66:1-5):
"O Prophet! Why do you ban (for yourself) that which Allah has made lawful to you, seeking to please your wives? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Allah has already ordained for you (O men) the dissolution of your oaths. And Allah is your Protector, and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. And (remember) when the Prophet disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives (Hafsa), but she told it (to another i.e., Aisha). And Allah made it known to him; he informed part thereof and left a part. Then when he told her (Hafsa) thereof, she said: 'Who told you this?' He said: 'The All-Knowing, the All-Aware (Allah) has told me.' If you two (wives of the Prophet, namely Aisha and Hafsa) turn in repentance to Allah, (it will be better for you), your hearts are indeed so inclined (to oppose what the Prophet likes), but if you help one another against him (i.e., the Prophet), then verily, Allah is his Maula (Lord, or Master, or Protector), and Jibril (Gabriel), and the righteous among the believers, and furthermore, the angels are his helpers."

This Hadith and the corresponding verses in Surah At-Tahreem provide important lessons on the importance of adhering to the guidance of Allah and the consequences of violating trust and divulging private matters. #hadith #hadees
