Officer Involved Incident DC Metro Police 10/19/2023

Around 5 p.m., MPD officers responded to the 2800 block of Gainesville Street, Southeast for the report of a man with a gun involved in a dispute with two women. Upon arrival, the man, later identified as 33-year-old Arthur Porter, of Northwest, D.C., started running from police and at some point, shots were fired from both the officers and Porter, according to D.C. Police.

At least one police officer was reportedly struck and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, police said. According to D.C. Police, this officer recently graduated from the Metropolitan Police Academy and was undergoing field training.
