Gate of Gates E27: Religious or Spiritual w/ Dr. Lisa Lacon

27

On this weeks show we have Dr. Lisa LaCon, Co-Founder and Director of Blessed Ministries Incorporated. She graduated with a M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Rutgers University and became a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). She later earned her doctorate in Psychiatric Rehabilitation from Rutgers University. She is the first black woman to earn this accomplishment.

We talk with Lisa about her experience as a Christian, and specifically as one that doesn't necessarily conform to the "religious" views that it comes with. She speaks on her inspirations about her work and how it translates into her spiritual understanding of life and the world around her. How do you draw the lines between what is spiritual and what is only being done as a repetition without an understanding of what you're doing? What does your work have to do with your identity? Chime in and leave your comments and questions!

Gate of Gates is an African indigenous podcast where we tackle complex topics of conversation which sometimes are considered taboos in our society. We touch on culture, politics, social issues,
colonization, sexuality, revolution, spirituality, healing, and more! We are not afraid to have difficult conversations in today's political climate. We wish strength and courage to the listeners.
