The Grudge and Fatal Frame are two popular horror classics that draw inspiration from Japanese folklore and mythology. But did you know that they both share a common location: the Himuro Mansion?
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to explore a haunted house in Japan? Well, we did it for you! In this video, we are the first ones to ever conduct a ghost investigation in the Yura Mansion, a creepy villa that looks like it came straight out of a horror movie.
The Yura Mansion is not just any haunted house. It has a rich and dark history that dates back to 1910. It was once the home of Asajiro Yura, a famous and wealthy Japanese businessman who was involved in the dye industry, the war efforts, and the government. He died in 1964, leaving behind his family and his secrets.
Some people claim that he was part of the conspiracy to attack Pearl Harbor, and that he discussed the plan inside his mansion. Others say that his family was cursed, and that they moved out after losing one of their children to a mysterious illness. Since then, the mansion has been abandoned and shunned by the locals, who believe it is haunted by evil spirits.
We decided to take the risk and venture into the mansion at night, armed with our cameras, flashlights, and ghost hunting equipment. What we found inside was shocking and terrifying. You won’t believe what we captured on tape!

The Himuro Mansion was first featured in the 2002 video game Ju-On: The Grudge, which was based on the 2000 film of the same name. The game follows several characters who encounter the curse of the Himuro family after entering the mansion or having some connection to it. The game uses a first-person perspective and a flashlight to create a tense and immersive atmosphere. The game was followed by several sequels and spin-offs, as well as an American remake in 2004.
The Himuro Mansion was also used as the main setting of the 2001 video game Fatal Frame, which was also known as Project Zero in Europe and Zero in Japan. The game follows Miku Hinasaki, a young woman who goes to the mansion to look for her missing brother, Mafuyu. She discovers that he was investigating the disappearance of a famous novelist, Junsei Takamine, who was researching the Himuro family’s history. Miku uses a special camera called the Camera Obscura, which can capture and exorcise spirits, to survive the horrors of the mansion and uncover its secrets. The game was praised for its innovative gameplay mechanics, story, and atmosphere. The game spawned four sequels and a 2014 live-action film.
