Decommissioning UK Gas networks

The UK of GB coal industry was closed down with a few mines remaining open - perhaps closed now. But there are still millions of tons of coal remaining!
The use of log burners is under threat with threat of fines (without a legal court case as per the custom and traditions of our lands - trial by jury!) of £300 if too much smoke is produced!
As in the past decades, and as far as I am aware the UK government did not consult, nor gain consent of the People, to decommission the gas networks. The Unelected pm Mr Sunak, misrepresenting himself, (fraud) has renewed licences - so what is going to happen with the peoples resources?
