  • I really liked this discussion. Something he mentioned that i think needs to be a focus is regulatory focus of cloud services. I hate to say that because i honestly don't want big government but if we don't get ahead of this now it is going to be a huge problem. A couple years ago you had Amazon and Microsoft as the only two companies who were offering competitive cloud based services for government. There was a contract for DOE that Microsoft won to host a classified and unclassified cloud network. Generally speaking government (specifically military) gets into tech before it goes more widespread for the use of the general public. The level of control that Amazon has over the digital market place is frightening and i don't think people currently understand. I love reading sci/fi and fantasy. There is basically one way i can get books and that is through Kindle and Amazon. During the Trump presidency Amazon started limiting how and what i could say in a book review. I really don't like WOKE content and i wanted to give a well thought out arguments on what i liked or disliked about a book. Amazon removes any review that i mention woke stuff. I am a disabled combat vet who has done several combat tours in Iraq and Amazon gets to decide whether i am allowed to give honest feedback about a product or not. If Amazon adopts values that i don't believe in and i have no ability to go other places for products. If i buy a product from a companies website directly to try and take Amazon out of the loop then i am forced to pay 30-40% more for said product. Amazon has a monopoly on many services mostly because they were the first to the cloud marketplace. Amazon promotes cultural content that their woke employees believe in and suppresses content that they disagree with. Currently there is really no other places to shop at because Amazon has a monopoly and therefore more Americans are funding their destruction. We need to get ahead of the digital revolution.
