From dry rot issues to footing problems, this deck needed some serious help. Follow along as we rebuild this old and neglected deck and turn it into a backyard getaway! Decks are sometimes overlooked when it comes to home renovation projects, but putting in a little time and effort here can have big payoffs!

As with a lot of projects, we didn't know the whole story at first and uncovered a lot of extra surprises along the way that needed to be fixed. If this damage wasn't fixed, we could have had the deck collapse which would have been horrible.

In this first part of our DIY deck videos, we show you how to tackle the structure, footings, and give tips on increasing the overall stability of the deck and create a solid base to build on.

◦ Fixing the Footings
◦ Correcting Dryrot Damage with Bondo Wood Filler
◦ Replacing a Deck Joist
◦ Strengthening the Deck Overall

Keep an eye out for the next video where we go transform this deck into a true extension of our home!
