Joseph of Cupertino was an Italian friar belonging to the Conventual Franciscan order who is venerated as a mystic and saint in the Christian faith. As per the accounts from the Franciscan tradition, he was considered to be "remarkably unclever", but he possessed the ability to levitate miraculously and had visions of ecstasy regularly throughout his life, which caused him to be the subject of ridicule.
