The United States is deploying about 900 more troops to the Middle East, including air defense system operators , Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said Thursday.

" I can confirm that approximately 900 soldiers have deployed or are currently deploying to the US Central Command area of responsibility ," Ryder said during a regular briefing.

He added that it is mostly about air defense operators.

US Central Command is responsible for planning operations in the Middle East and Central Asia.
