There’s a bit of nuance to this topic because it really depends on how you’re performing the movement. If you’re truly controlling the weight, there’s a low chance you’ll experience any issues with locking out your elbows in between reps. As someone with injury-prone elbows, I’ve never had any issues with locking out my elbows while doing dips. Most people get injured because they’re recklessly moving the weight, while their elbows take a beating. Unless you have hyper-mobile joints, locking out isn’t an issue if you’re training appropriately
