World Heavyweight Championship. George Foreman and Muhammad Ali spent much of the middle of 1974 training in Zaire, getting acclimated to its tropical African climate. The fight was originally scheduled Sept. 25 (Sept. 24 in the US due to the time difference) however, eight days prior to the fight, Foreman was cut above his right eye during a sparring session. This required Foreman to receive 11 stitches, w/the date of the fight pushed back to Oct. 30.
