Kis Ko Ab Ho Ga Watan Mein Aah! Mera Intizar
Kon Mera Khat Na Ane Se Rahe Ga Be-Qarar

Now, who will wait for me, alas!, in my homeland?
Who will be anxious when my letter does not arrive?

Khak-e-Marqad Par Teri Le Kar Ye Faryad Aun Ga
Ab Duaye Neem Shab Mein Kis Ko Main Yaad Aun Ga!

I shall come to the dust of your grave, bringing this lament:
Now who will remember me in midnight prayers?

کس کو اب ہو گا وطن میں آہ! میرا انتظار
کون میرا خط نہ آنے سے رہے گا بے قرار

مطلب: اے ماں ! میرے وطن میں کس کو میرا انتظار ہوگا۔کون میرا خط نہ آنے سے بے چین و بے قرار ہوگا۔

خاکِ مرقد پر تری لے کر یہ فریاد آوَں گا
اب دعائے نیم شب میں کس کو میں یاد آوَں گا

اے ماں ! تیری قبر پر آؤں گا تو یہ فریاد لے کر آؤں گا کہ اب مجھے آدھی رات کی دعاؤں میں کون یاد کرے گا۔
