Well, the system does actually work. It took three weeks, but a free people operating freely without a dictatorship finally worked out the right person at this time to be Speaker of the House. And I think that's an important thing to remember, that a number of very smart, very good people, friends of mine, tried to become Speaker, but in the end, each of them was blocked because there was a faction that thought for one reason or another that they weren't the right person and then partly out of exhaustion and partly because they tried all the big names, they stopped and they looked around and they found the Vicechair of the Republican Conference, former head of the study committee, a three time congressman from Louisiana named Mike Johnson, who had an impeccable record as a very effective conservative lawyer before he came to Congress. Now he is the 56th Speaker of the House, and the system worked.
