The Republican National Committee just put out seven principles from new House Speaker Mike Johnson. I think they're pretty darn good. And I think they give you a flavor of where the Louisiana congressman and our Speaker is coming from. So let me just read them to you:

Individual freedom.
Limited government.
The rule of law.
Peace through strength.
Fiscal responsibility.
Free markets.
Human dignity.

There is not a single thing in those seven principles that Ronald Reagan would have disagreed with. There's not a single thing that those of us who wrote the Contract with America would have disagreed with. And I think it speaks well of Mike Johnson that he is able to represent a solid conservative position of deep faith, deep commitment, and do so in a positive, friendly way that doesn't alienate people, but in fact opens up a dialog and helps him achieve his faith.
