The most important benefit of recovery running is that it helps your muscles and tissues recover from your hard lest workouts by promoting blood circulation. By increasing blood flow to your muscles, oxygen and nutrients are delivered to your muscles to help them repair, recuperate and build. The increased blood flow will also help flush out metabolic byproducts.
Recovery runs are easy runs that are done at a very light, controlled effort. Typically, these runs are done when your legs are tired from previous training, but you want to get in more mileage for the week, or you’re looking to flush out built up lactic acid.
