An 18-year-old Oxford school district student is in police custody after, police say, he tried to disarm an Oakland County Sheriff's Department deputy. The deputy was attempting to take the student into custody at the time. The gun went off as the teen tried to grab for it. The round went through the bottom of the holster, striking the floor and then lodging in a nearby interior wall. It happened around 4:10 p.m. Police say the teen was being taken into custody after assaulting his girlfriend at Oxford High School. The teen, who is an online student at the school, has school privileges but he also has a written agreement to stay away from his girlfriend due to "stalking type issues."
