An anonymous source leaked an email to Eyes on PGH sent by Pittsburgh Department of Public Works employee Zachary Spodek denying requests for volunteers to clean up homeless encampments in the city. Spodek cites "safety concerns" and need for "additional clearances from the Office of Community Health and Safety to ensure each site is unoccupied" as the reason for denial. Pittsburgh DPW anti-litter specialist Christopher Mitchell denied our request for comment while pleading to not use Spodek's name: "I'm afraid that the Comms team has directed that any information regarding this matter is a strict "No comment" at this time, but I have been given permission to plead again that any information shared on air be done with my name instead of his."
