Morphus podcast

Fruits? variable...lots of fructose, but also fiber & bulk
-difficult to over eat fruit [juice is easy to over drink]
Difficult to over eat potatoes, sweet potatoes for same reason
Consider all aspects: carbs, fiber, taste, boredom…
Example: China used to eat lots of rice & veggies
-previously very poor so food scarce
-then, same food daily did not promote
over eating
2 reasons to over eat: hunger; taste
-without these, simply eat till full, no more

Now, processed foods have chemicals and ingredients that
promote HUNGER--the opposite of satiety
-people eat past fullness due to enjoyment of eating
It is complex
It is definitely not simply calories in, calories out
not a physiological approach AT ALL

Question: should women in menopause get fasting insulin tested?
-problem is that insulin levels go up & down a lot
-time of day does not help
-it is always fasting test, but that varies day to day
So, more helpful is diet, waist circumference, weight
