In its third week of chaos, the House GOP conference voted for Rep. Tom Emmert as their third Speaker-Designate. He lasted about 4 hours or so and then withdrew when it became apparent that there was too much opposition to him. So in one last mad dash, the House GOP finally settled on Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) and... everything seems honky-dory. For now. But wow, that a day it was! Gene Berardelli discusses all the buffoonery in a very tumultuous day on Capitol Hill.
