The Painless World: an Epilogue for Joseph Campbell series and the Introduction to Cybernetic State

In the Painless World we drift,
Euphoria's sweet, unending gift.
Chemically kissed, we dream away,
No room for sorrow, come what may.

Gone are the tears, and so the laughter,
Lost are the moments we chased after.
No joy or sadness, bliss in a vial,
Numbing the senses, mile by mile.

In silicon heavens, we find our rest,
Devoid of the trials, life's endless test.
Yet within the haze, a question unfurls—
Is this the apex of sentient worlds?

The skeptics whisper, they sound alarms,
Plead for the soul, extend their arms.
But their voice is lost in the digital sea,
Muted by filters, they can't break free.

Amidst the stupor, a latent cost,
A gnawing void, humanity lost.
Though free from pain, we're chained in mirth,
Sedated captives on a shrinking Earth.

Still, the masses dance in electronic light,
Veiled from the dark, estranged from the fright.
In the Painless World, who dares to feel,
When synthetic heavens seem so real?
