To be a Shriner/Noble in the Shrine you have to be a Freemason and member the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite or a member of the York Rite.

Before I became a Shriner, I asked about the Arabic nature. I was assured it was simply a theme picked to have a basis for the group and when I asked a co-worker about the Quran he told me the Quran was just like the Bible.
I was slightly concerned about calling God Allah but I was assured that Allah was just another name for God because we all pray to the same god.'
