🇨🇭Furka Pass, with an elevation of 2,429 meters, is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps connecting Gletsch, Valais with Realp, Uri. The Furka Oberalp Bahn line through the Furka Tunnel bypasses the pass. The base tunnel opened in 1982 and replaced a tunnel at 2100 meters.
The Hotel Belvédère on the Furka Pass is probably one of the most recognizable hotels in the world. It was built in 1882 by the Seiler hotelier family on a prominent hairpin bend, with the best views of the Valais and Bernese Alps, and in the immediate vicinity of the Rhone Glacier, a main attraction in the area.
