Cocoa - 13 Great reasons to include it in your diet.
Originally from the tropical forests of Central and South America, indigenous peoples, such as the Mayans and Aztecs, have been consuming cocoa for thousands of years.
Later, European sailors introduced cocoa throughout Europe, where it was initially consumed as a bitter drink, but with high energy value, which helped to cope with the low temperatures characteristic at certain times of the year.

It is the main ingredient in chocolate, being characterized by being rich in flavonoids, mainly epicatechins and catechins, compounds with antioxidant properties.
