Marvel Studios' Daredevil: Born Again hit a roadblock when the writers strike halted production in mid-June. Although less than half of the series' 18 episodes had been filmed, Marvel executives, including chief Kevin Feige, reviewed the footage and recognized a clear problem: the show was not working.
