Fed Raises Rates Again But Mortgage Rates Fall 😮 #mortgagerates #realestateshorts

Why do mortgage rates continue to fall while the Fed keeps increasing the federal funds rate? This confuses a lot of people. Last week, the Fed raised rates for the eighth straight time, by another .25% & mortgage rates fell to their lowest level since October 20, last year, when they peaked at 7.375%. Jerome Powell is optimistic saying future hikes would depend on incoming data. But we’ve already beat inflation & the numbers continue to improve, so rates will keep dropping.
Lower mortgage rates & falling home prices have brought loads of buyers back into the market as houses are quickly becoming affordable again. Since November, the saving on a mortgage payment has declined by hundreds of dollars per month. There’s a massive opportunity for those looking to purchase a house right now, as sellers are still willing to negotiate.
