We bought a 1929 Ford Model A Mail Truck, 2,800 mile ROAD TRIP!

My 91 year old adopted dad's dream car has always been a Ford Model A Mail Truck. Thanks to viewers of this YouTube channel, we found the perfect 1929 Ford Model A Mail Truck, and brought it home. This video is the story and journey how we drove about 2,800 miles in 3 days to make a very rare Model A part of our Misfit Model A fleet.

In 1929, the US Postal Service contracted with Ford for 400 Model A chassis, suitable for mail service. Ford delivered the chassis' to the US Postal Service who transported them to Pennsylvania and finished them with the custom Postal Service bodies. Each mail truck was assigned a unique serial number, starting with 10001. This is mail truck #10387, which means it is the 387th built out of the first run of 400.

This truck was in service from late 1929 until around 1955. After it was retired, it was sold at a government surplus auction. It eventually ended up in the hands of a Model A expert restorer and mail truck aficionado where it spent the next 7 years undergoing a detailed "correct in every exact detail" restoration. It was later shown and then toured. It has appeared in MAFCA's "The Restorer" magazine several times, including a full article about its unusually high level restoration.
