The Anointing Separates You for God's Holy Purpose | Apostle Eckhardt Teaching
Apostle John Eckhardt teaches on the anointing for separation and holiness during an October 2023 edition of The Porch. He explains how the anointing sets believers apart for God's holy purpose and calls them to live consecrated, holy lives.

Those that were anointed primarily - the priests, Aaron and his sons - were anointed for service in the tabernacle. All the vessels of the tabernacle were anointed with oil, because they would be used not for common purposes, but strictly for the sacrificial system and worship at the temple.
We know the prophets were anointed. Kings were anointed. Which means they were separated by the anointing. They were separated, set aside for a particular service.
So to be anointed means to be separated. It means to be consecrated. It means to be set aside for a particular use - which means you are no longer common. You are no longer ordinary. You are set aside. You're different. You've been set aside.
And of course the word “holy” also means to be set aside. So consecration, separation, consecration, and holiness is a part of the anointing.
It's important that you understand this because it demands that you live your life a certain way. It demands that you live your life in a holy, clean way. There's a godliness and cleanliness that the anointing requires.
I think sometimes when it comes to the anointing, people get anointed to preach, teach, prophesy, cast out devils - they get anointed to do something and they forget the consecration part. And sometimes people who are anointed, they make the mistake of living the same way as people who are not anointed. Eventually that brings a problem.
Look at Samson - he was anointed by God to deliver Israel, yet he ended up dying because he never really consecrated himself for God's purpose. He had a problem with harlots, a problem with women, a problem with anger. Much of what he did was a personal vendetta against the Philistines. He didn't think in terms of the nation of Israel. He was very selfish, fleshly, selfish for his own desires. And he ended up dying in a pagan temple among the Philistines.
God still used him, God still uses the anointing on people. And sometimes if God still uses you, you mistake that, that even though you're being used, God is not pleased with your lifestyle.
So it's important that we who are anointed, we that believe in the anointing, we that believe in the power of the Spirit of God, we understand that we have to consecrate and separate ourselves for God's purpose.
We have to separate ourselves unto worship, unto prayer, unto the Word, unto service, unto ministry. And we have to live clean, holy lives. We have to live lives that are pleasing before God.
We cannot be involved in sin, in rebellion, in disobedience, in perversion, in sexual sin, in idolatry, in iniquity, in profanity, in greed, in stealing, in lying, in gossip, in slander. We can't be involved in that. That is not what anointed people should be doing.
So it's important that we reconsecrate ourselves. As we anoint ourselves with oil, we're saying "Lord, I rededicate and reconsecrate myself to you for the rest of this year as we go into 2024. I remind myself that I'm anointed. I'm different. I'm separated. I'm consecrated for a holy purpose. I'm committed to the service and work of God. I am not common. I am not usual. I am unusual. I'm separated, called, set apart. And I am consecrated to the purpose of God."
So you can confess, "I am anointed. I am separated. I'm consecrated. I'm set aside for God's holy use and God's holy purpose. I am committed to the service and work of God. I am not common. I am not here for natural use. I am a vessel under God’s use and purpose, and I will walk in that all the days of my life."
This is one of the purposes of the anointing. We have to remind ourselves, "I'm anointing myself not just for power, but I'm reminding myself that I'm separated, consecrated for a holy purpose."
