Israel Troops Prepare for Potential Invasion as Hamas Fires Rockets from Lebanon

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that around 20 rockets were launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel, with a warning to Hezbollah that they would bear the consequences for authorizing the rocket barrage. Tragically, eight children were among the 10 members of a single family killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza's Khan Younis, according to their relatives who informed the news agency AFP. The IDF claimed responsibility for an airstrike targeting "Palestinian gunmen" in the Nur Shams refugee camp, resulting in 10 officers injured in the fighting, with one officer killed due to an IED blast. The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that eight people had lost their lives in various clashes with Israeli forces.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed the "total annihilation of Hamas" and assured Israeli troops that they would soon have a presence inside Gaza. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed the United Kingdom's support for Israel during what he called its "darkest hour" and emphasized Israel's right to defend itself "within international law." Meanwhile, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II denounced Israel's actions as "collective punishment" against Palestinians in Gaza.
