One of the greatest misconceptions in traditional Christianity is the exclusive status of Jesus as the one and only son of God. A status to which nobody else should dare to aspire. Ignoring the fact that Jesus himself unequivocally stated the opposite of this idea was not only part and parcel of the fear-based ideology of the self-proclaimed gatekeepers of God, but also one of the most reliable mechanisms fostering the illusion of separation throughout the centuries.

In this speech, Alan Watts shows no mercy in smashing that old idol that has survived for too long. He demonstrates how the illusion of being a finite entity that is separate from God is the very reason why we are desperately struggling to become something superior to what we think we are.
