River City Drift organizes monthly Drift events or Meetups in the San Antonio Texas metro area, year round, weather permitting. Driver skills ranged from the beginner to the experienced, but they had 2 different tracks set up in the parking lot of Rollings Oaks Mall. One track was for practicing drifting around a set of barrels in a multi figure-8 series of loops. But the main track was designed to allow the drivers to build up some serious speeds while burning their tires around the curves.

Periodically during the day, the officials would halt the activities, to enable the field observers to reset the course barrels, barricades and traffic cones. That was needed on a regular basis, as the less experienced drivers tended to collide with them on the curves as they failed to stay on the marked route.

We did obtain permission from the organizers to fly our DJI FPV Racing drone for a few hours during their event. There were several other FPV drone pilots out there a well, causing us to back off on some of the chases due to busy airspace above the track. You will see some of those other drones in this video.
