Metro Detroit school district working to prevent drop outs

Oakland Schools is taking a new look at what causes truancy and how it affects students while working to prevent drop outs. They call it an issue of "chronic absenteeism" and they say a handful of classes add up and it leads to drop outs. The district is digging deep, talking about refugee students, the homeless population, the ongoing opioid epidemic and even human trafficking.
