Feature-length silent film, a romantic and war drama, based on the novel and play The Clansman, both by racist American writer Thomas Dixon.

The story focuses on two US families, the Stoneman family from the north and the Cameron family from the south. One thing they have in common is that they both have cats.

Elsie Stoneman (Lillian Gish) is seen holding a cat
white while talking to his brothers.

On the front porch of the Cameron family home, the patriarch (Spottiswoode Aitken) sits in a chair with a tabby cat on his lap.

The kitten is looking at some puppies at the feet of the man who, at one point, throws the kitten at the puppies.
