Democracy is one of the basic pillars of the European Union, which it strives to promote within its territory but also beyond its borders thanks to treaties. With the upcoming European elections, the Union encourages people to vote in order to choose who represents them in the European Parliament, the directly-elected institution that defends their interests in the EU decision-making process.
